XBOX Live sucks

I finally got my internet connection switched on this evening and after an hour or so trying to set up my old XBOX so I could get my account details off it to set up my XBOX live account on my 360 I managed to transfer my account.

But in doing so, the thing managed to delete all of my save games, 24 hours or so of playing the games I own down the pan, no gamepoints anymore and no achievements. This has to be one of the most frustrating things I've encountered with the 360 yet.

Once I did have live up and running it was completely pointless, Perfect Dark Zero is terrible and while PGR3 is ok, playing live with other people is a little unappealing as they constantly chatter crap over the microphone and the majority of players are so much better than me that there is little chance of me ever winning.

Downloading game demos and trailers is all well and good but you can't do anything other than sit and watch them download while this is happening. Overall, I'm thouroughly unimpressed and would much rather be playing my save games off line than what little fun there is to be had online with my trashed save games.

2006: New Year, new challenge

After the super awesomeness of 2005's 200 film challenge it was felt that a new challenge for 2006 was required, and who better to help with the challenge setting than Neil "Challenge Master" McPhillips.

After a lot of brainstorming, we decided to combine our favourite things ever. Starting with films we narrowed it down to shoddy Hong-Kong action/comedy films in particular and to get the numbers down to something possible decided upon the "Super Andy Challenge", 1 year, 1 actor, 100 films. The aim: to see 100 of Andy Lau's finest works in the next year. With over 125 Andy Action Epic's to choose from (minus the 6 I've seen) there's a lot of scope for silly Hong-Kong madness.

I have to say that so far I'm doing quite well, requiring to see just under 2 Andys a week I've managed to clock up 4 so far this year plus another 2 non-Andy related movies, making it the most prolific first week for movie watching since records began.

To keep up to date on how the Andy challenge is going, be sure to check out http://www.wilkiewideweb.com/100andy/ and for a more general list of all the films reviewed so far this year there's http://www.wilkiewideweb.com/2006film/.

Here's to another year of movie mayhem!
