Passive Smoking is a nuisance
It's nice to see the Scottish Exuctive haven't bothered to change their advertising campaign since the introduction of the Smoking ban. I was at the cinema last night when their "Passive Smoking is a nuisance" advert was shown and the first thing I thought was that since you're no longer allowed to smoke in pubs, how come the main woman is just sitting there while her mates smoke. She's breaking the law herself by permitting others to smoke in an enclosed public space.
This got me thinking, why was she sitting there anyway, she obviously isn't having a good time, so why go and sit in a pub with two smokers one on either side. Seems strange that for the adverts they picked someone who has chosen to put herself at risk from passive smoking when surely someone who had to work in a smokey conditions or someone who lived with a smoker would be a much better illustration of the risks rather than someone who will quite happily sit in a pub and let others break the law without doing anything about it.
Therefore, the moral of the advert must surely be: "If you don't grass people up for breaking the law bad things will happen to you" and there was me thinking is was aimed at smokers.
